The Camp Marmie Story
Camp Marmie began with a grandmother's love. Jackie "Marmie" Bezos believed deeply in the power of togetherness and the joy of learning. Every summer, she brought those beliefs to life for her eleven grandchildren through Camp Marmie. Here, curiosity was celebrated, learning felt like an adventure, and we discovered what it meant to lead. Camp Marmie shaped who we are, and we're on a mission to share that experience with young learners everywhere.
Today, Camp Marmie is a growing nonprofit building a national network of community-based summer programs for students in grades six through twelve. Each year, every Camp Marmie chapter unites around a single rotating theme. For three immersive weeks, campers dive into applied learning, creative project work, and real-world community exploration that pushes them to think bigger and reach further. We combine identity exploration, power skill-building, and a genuine peer community to create the conditions adolescents need to do the developmental work they most need: test ideas, build competence, and find their place among people who take them seriously. Camp Marmie offers young people a learning experience in which who they are and who they might become are treated as worth exploring.
